I recently had 2 almost identical machines..side by side...one with IDE harddrive ..one with SATA, both with same video, RAM, MO, CPU and OS.
There was a noticable difference in response with the SATA drive.......definately the way to go

Yeah im definately going for SATA, seems to make more sense to me, bigger cable, more ground to cover (IDE), smaller cable, less ground to cover (SATA) :-p although I know that isn't how it works it just makes sense :d

If you're not using raid you won't have a problem though
