Im keen on learning VB.Net and as a user visual basic.net software ( i think microsofts is visual studio.net) is pretty expensive. I know microsoft offer visual basic.net express edition for download.
Just wondering whether anyone here knew of any other whether opensource or proprietary ( it has to be free to download / use since im a student) visual basic.net programming software that i could download ?
cheers

There's SharpDevelop (http://www.icsharpcode.net/Opensource/SD/), it's a free C# and VB.NET IDE. What's wrong with Microsoft's Visual Basic .NET Express Edition (http://www.icsharpcode.net/Opensource/SD/)? I've used their Visual C++ Express Edition (http://msdn.microsoft.com/vstudio/ex...c/default.aspx), and it wasn't all that bad.
A recomend a quick Google Search (http://www.google.com/search?q=Free+VB.NET+IDE) before asking questions like this. Try a few you find out, and see which you like best. I have no preference, as I've never done any VB.NET development.
Good luck,
enmand

Thanks , I know its easy to check Google but I always find the best way to find things like this out it to ask people , get their views. Theres no point in trying 20 different programs if you can ask people and find 1 really good one. You know what I mean ?

Of course, but you also have to find one you like best. It doesn't matter if everyone else likes it, if you hate it. :-)
