connecting linux to internet

hi i am having problems connecting my turbo linux os to the internet using a dsl modem which is connected to ethernet card can any one help me?????????????...............

Howdy.

have you checked witch etho it is using in the network settings? Maybe change it to etho1 and just change it until you get connection, it should auto detect your DHCP settings from the modem and network card, so sometimes you just need to check it's using the right etho settings.

I assume you're talking about the different ethernet interfaces here - namely eth0, eth1, and so on?

hard_burner: Please post the results of the following command in terminal: ifconfig
Also check to see if there is anything in the file /etc/resolv.conf.

exactly what i meant, becoming a father has jumbled my thinking up. i'm thinking of a million things at once.

i wonder if he/she has solved the problem and what info they got from running the ipconfig in terminal.

You are still jumbled ipconfig is a windows thingy.. on *nix it's ifconfig..
