desktop icons and taskbar took very long to load
hi
i am currently running on window xp home sp2
i had run various program such as ewido, thread micro, adaware, spybot
but nothing was found.
the taskbar and desktop icon took about 10minutes to load, and when i click on start, it took another 2 min to show the shortcuts . And another few mintues after my mouse point at all programs. But i press Ctrl + Alt + Delete , it appear very fast.(note: the time on the taskbar is not refresher until it show the next menu.)
then i open 2 Internet explorer. Yahoo and Google. But it does not show on the taskbar. When it finally show on the taskbar, i try to click on the program at the taskbar(for example i am at yahoo,i wanna to switch to google) but no effect. I have to press Alt + Tab to go to google.
I tired to go yahoo an search for the same problem but either the solution does not work or no solution given or reformat the computer.
this is my hijackthis

Hmmmm,
1. What are your hardware specifications.
2. Why are you automatically starting Cold Fusion?
1. Try removing Cold Fusion from the start up menu.
2. Update your Norton
3. Update Windows
4. Defragment your HDD
Do you get the same problem when you boot into SAFE MODE ?
Have you run your scans in SAFE MODE?

OK samueltoon we have a few issues here.
1. With Windows XP Pro SP2, a CELERON processor and 256Mb of RAM, you do not have a lot of spare resource. I would personally want 512Mb in that setup for a smooth computing experience.
2. You have Norton, which is notorious for conflicting with other software. Worse still, It has exired and is obsolete.
Let us try this to start with:
1. http://www.winpatrol.com
Get WinPatrol (there is a free version) and use it to "suspend" applications in your start up.
2. Uninstall Norton
3. Get Avast! or AVG for your antivirus solution.
4. If you do not have a firewall other than Norton, get the free version of Zone Alarm first, or at least make sure that the Windows SP2 firewall is enabled.
Incidentally, if the SP2 firewall is active, Norton might be conflicting with that as well.
Please let me know how you get on

Something I need to ask you. Are you running a genuine copy of Windows? That is, you bought it from a store or it came with your computer?
