    Sure does, but this indicates that you understand TCP and/or how AIM makes connections hence you're not going to make a DC with an unknown person.

    ...and there have been programs in the past that used exploits to find any user's ip.
    Also correct. However, exploits are outside of the scope of the question. Again, knowing an IP address is hardly a tragedy either by exploit or stupidity.

    Well if the person is pretty naive you could always say you want to send him porn, a bit of the social engineering side of things, and make a direction connection just long enough to jot down the IP.

    Thats the proxy I was talkin about. I think it is set on the middle option by default. It requires almost no technical knowledge.

    Ask an average end user what a proxy is and what it's used for. I guarantee lemons will roll in their eyes.
