Synful hi, as you know, we caught up with each other in the channel

However, I'm starting to see why some people are a bit lukewarm about the IRC channel. The minute I mentioned AO someone (presumably a server op) "killed" me It doesn't sound very AntiOnline friendly .... and frankly I cba with all that rather childish kick/ban stuff.

It's very easy to kick someone out of a channel you op or (in the case of a kill) admin, but it's much harder persuading people to hang out there. Normal users have more power than they realise because they can vote with their feet. And I'm afraid I have better things to do than continue rejoining channels when there are so many more of them!

Well, ya can't say you weren't warned. I told ya that there were some rather hostile folks there when it comes to this site.

ConnectServ didn't tell me who killed you, but I assure you, that is not how AO is usually handled. I will be bringing that issue up with the other opers/admins.

Normally they just kick you and make jokes about gh3yness.

Well... suffice to say ... Poop happens.

If you know who did it (I can probably look through the logs and find out), I'll have a talk with them. It's about time we had another "meeting" (if you could call it that) anyways.

I hope this won't discourage you from coming back. As TH13 says, that's usually not how things are handled. Yes, a lot of us are (were) from AO, and a lot have some bitter feelings towards it (for one reason or another, hell, I was banned at AO once for no reason), but no IRC oper should act in that way. They all know what kill and all those are measures are for, and someone mentioning AO isn't one of it's uses.

Also; yes, the chat turns gay sometimes (usually Brad, Jack of Synful :-p), but it's a fun place to hang out, and you can actually learn sometimes.

Anyways, I hope this hasn't discouraged you.

Heya, not to much, been busy with school and stuff. Other than that, nothing noteworthy has really happened in my life, at least I don't think it has. What about you?

Of course not this is IRC and I'm used to it. In fact I need to reboot shortly (damn XP and no native recognition for Bluetooth, it won't see my newly formatted memory card in the phone even though the device is paired!).

When I reopen Mirc, it will automatically join the channel again. I just can't be bothered to respond to pointless kicks and kills by immediately coming back in, is all. I'm not sure what people like this are trying to prove - we already know what server admins and ops can do. I've been one myself.
