(Update: President Bush is expected to comment on Zarqawi's demise around 7:30 a.m. EST. Press reports said the president learned about the successful strike on the terrorist leader Tuesday evening.)

(CNSNews.com) - Abu Musab al-Zarqawi, the Jordanian-born terrorist leader of al Qaeda in Iraq, has been killed, Iraqi Prime Minister Nouri Maliki announced at a press conference on Iraqi state television shortly before 4 a.m. Thursday Washington time.

... and his "spiritual advisor" bought the farm too... He was the guy voted most likely to take over from Zarqawi on his death...

Of course, every bloodthirsty, cowardly f$king terrorist needs a "spiritual advisor" close at hand....

I just wanted to check Aljazeera as well:

    His family reacts:

Forming the new enemy, based on the "martyrdom":
In front of the family house, a 13-year-old boy, who said he was al-Zarqawi's nephew, stared at a crowd of reporters who had gathered there.

"I'm so sad about my uncle," said the boy, who identified himself as Omar.
    "Expert" view:
Muntasir al-Zayyat, an Egyptian expert on Islamic groups, told Aljazeera: "Al-Maliki and other Iraqi politicians do not recognise the truth.

"The first thing to know is that the Iraqi resistance is from Iraq itself.

"Al-Zarqawi is one of the few mujahidin Arabs (holy fighters) who entered Iraq to fight US and foreign forces which occupied the country.

"Without the support of honest Iraqis to the Iraqi resistance, al-Zarqawi would not be able to stay all this period doing operations that harmed the occupation forces."
I have always wondered if the people who rejoiced when Saddam's statue was pulled down are now among the ranks of the insurgents.

And... will Al-Zarqawi's death be a blow to the occupation or insurgent forces? It will boost morale for the US and the allies for sure, but will those also boost the morale of the insurgents, as they all look to become "martyrs"?

Just saw this, just now, no... right now:

Does come at a nice time for Bush though. He needed something like this to try and boost his ratings. As for Zarqawi its good to see him go. Now lets hope the media stops talking about him quickly.

MURACU, who says we want Bush to boost his ratings? I want him, that asshat Rumsfeld and the entire congress out. Especially Ted Kennedy, John Kerry and the rest of the perpetually elected Zombies.

Road never said you guys wanted to boost his ratings but I did say it is nicely timed for Bush. I wouldn't be suprised if just before or just after the presidentials "they" pulled osma out of a hat. As for the rest, the general american voter is too easy to manipulate for there to be any big changes in the political landscape in the states.

Call me a glass half full kind of guy MURACU.

The left and the right are hard up on their so called elected officials. Look at Ted Kennedy? They want sweeping change in congress but are unwilling to look into their own party. Mine, they want cetain issues above others but continue to elect the same ones often for the same reasons as the left. Don't care, all talk no bite.

It's nice to see the good guys get one for a change. Right up there with the capture of Saddam. Must be an incredible boost to morale.

I still don't think it makes a rats ass worth of difference. Insurgents are too dedicated to their way of life to stop, there will always be martyrs and those worshipping them, and for every one we kill, there's six more waiting in the wings.

However, it's nice that the beheading SOB finally got his. Hate to say it, but I read today that he lived for awhile after the attack - I hope it hurt, and I hope he was very very afraid.
