Windows Vista Beta Open To The Public

Anybody plan on testing it from a security standpoint? Here is the link where you can get your key:

    http://www.microsoft.com/windowsvist...y/preview.mspx

    (damn Microsoft registration)

but if you use their download page it redirects to the message:

Thank you for your interest in Windows Vista Beta 2.

We are currently experiencing a high level of demand and cannot process your request at this time.

Please check back later for availability. We apologize for any inconvenience.
Luckily, a nice person on Slashdot gave the direct links:

    Windows Vista 32bit - English
    http://download.windowsvista.com/dl/...FRE_EN_DVD.iso

    Windows Vista 64bit - English

Irongeek- I'm registered as a beta test but I've not been able to get a copy yet. I'm hoping that by the time I get home tonight somebody has gotten the full ISO and started a torrent of the beta.

I'm not planning on doing any formal testing related to security but I do have several websites that I have to start testing compatibility on, as well as some user applications that need to be tested.

I'm interested in checking out the bitkeeper encryption and also have lined up a machine that has aeroglass compatibility so I can check out the new UIs. I'm also interested to see how they handled the login as a user, get admin privileges when needed. I'm wondering how much they copied ideas from OSX.

I need to come up with a notes page later.

Sam and Syskey still seem to work the same, except LM hash storage is off by default.

    Password Renew still works fine:

I can post a link/.nzb file to a newsgroup posting that seems to have it, however I am not sure whether that would be classed as warez or not, and I don't want any neg's, which is why I am posting this first to check what you guys think about it, if I get enough approval then I will post them or if this would be classed as warez then let me know and I won't.

    Cheers

This is an iso file so im assuming that you have to run it off a CD (i didn't finish downloading it yet)...or is there a way to get it on ur HD to boot it off that?

Also, you might want to use a download manager, that has resume capabilities.. As there has been reports that it get's halfway downloaded, and it will stop and when you resume it gives and error and wants to restart..

I have downloaded both the 32bit and 64bit, and i will be making a torrent file and will seed the 2 versions..

will post up info when there ready.
