    to stop the debug bit

tools ---> internet options ---> advanced

put a check / tick into the two 'disable script de-bug boxes'

IIRC you have to 'own' th eS/W before you are able to de-bug it .......

    as for the rest
    you are not alone
    read this for some ideas

and don't forget to post back with updates AND your fix too
so now I'm in my SIXTIES FFS
WTAF, how did that happen, so no more alterations to the sig, it will remain as is now

    By wgav.eve I assume you meant wgav.exe??

If so then a quick google search shows us that this is a virus...

    Ahhhh Duck...

Could WGAV.exe also be WINDOWS Genuine Advantage Validation tool.. if your getting errors it may be a handy idea to followup on the problems with the WGA tool..
Sorry Duck, I too did extra checking and actually had hoped that you hadnt read this.. so I could fix my error..(read ****up)

Very good thinking there Undies ... but after double checking it appears that the process that belongs to windows genuine advantage validation tool is: wgatray.exe

So wgav.exe is malicious. Do a google search and you won't find one legite site about it .

All I could find on this was:

It seems it spreads through AIM as an invitation to go to a buddies MySpace webpage. It will install itself as a Windows service and mimic the new Windows update for Windows Genuine Advantage. It actually installs the service as Windows Genuine Advantage Checker in services.msc, but doesn't allow you to stop the service. It runs as wgav.exe in the task manager as with System rights. It is a variation of a backdoor trojan. Just like the actual new service (which doesn't get listed) it will send out its data everytime you reboot or logon, plus once a day.

In order to get rid of this you must boot intoSafe Mode and disable the service. You can then delete the actual wgav.exe found in the system32 folder and prefetch folder.

Apparently it's brought in through AIM and myspace.com...

Here is additional info provided by soemone else who submitted a HJT log over at Tomcoyote, it has instructions on how to identify and remove wgav.exe....
