I'd have to say Lite-On or LG.
When I worked @ Dell testing optical drives (DVD writers included) we had no problems with these manufacturers.

Hi there ByTe~
As much as they disgust me, I have to say Sony..............
BUT...... most of the crap is made in China these days, so the "badge" just dictates the price.

UK biased but they have reviews on DVD RW's this month
it will be in there somewhere
I just bought a BenQ [£34 - $50] DVD +- RW
then found it too be overpriced

and as always in IT
it is NEVER the right time to buy
so now I'm in my SIXTIES FFS
WTAF, how did that happen, so no more alterations to the sig, it will remain as is now

Unfortunately I'd have to disagree with everyone on this (though unforutnately Sony does make good burners :P).
I'd say go for Pioneer seeing as how they're the one's who created the DVD+R/RW format... And they make dual format dvd burners now (DVD+/- R/RW)
