System Mechanic alternative

Aloha,
I've been used Iolo System Mechanic trial version. I realy like this software, but I'm fan of the free software and I'm looking for free alternative ot SM. Also I'm preparing a freeware DVD for win and lin platforms and I'm searching for freeware alternatives of most popular software.

You basically have no chance of finding a single, free substitute for System Mechanic, simply because it is a collection of tools rather than a single item.

What I would suggest is you look at System Mechanic and make a list of the tools/features that you want. Then search for free alternatives.

Then try places like sysinternals , Tucows and the like.

Don't forget that there are already these "toolkits" on bootable CDs out there. Things like Bart's PE and Hiren's Boot CD come to mind:

Hi,
Yes, there is no such complex free solution. I asked my question wrong
Just want free stuffs that have a group of functions of system mechanic. The other my idea is when I find these stuffs to write a GUI that includes all of them and users can download and use it like a single product.
I'll see these sites for something useful to me ... 10x a lot

If you have some favourites and useful free tools, please link for them, so I can try it and include it in my compilation. I have choosed already some from Inscure's top 100 for this year.

I'm not altogether familiar with System Mechanic, but it seems to be very popular with the technologically-challenged I know. I'm under the impression it's similar to Norton's Systemworks (a god-awful piece of code). Ontrack used to put out a similar suite.

The only things I ever used from those two suites were the temp cleaners and the registry cleaners.

Try Ccleaner for both of those. It's a sweet little piece of "donationware" (aka freeware).
