NIC not working on slackware krnl. 2.6

    Hi guys,
I want to get my wirless NIC (PCI) to work on slackware 10.2. I upgraded to a 2.6.13 generic kernel, but it still doesn't work... #ifconfig gives me loopback interface only
However I have a SuSE 10 installation on same box and it works fine, the card uses the atheros chipset.
    any advice is appreciated...

    --thanks

Check the suse hardware compatibility database first. Then post the make and model of your nic and I'll help.

It is a SMC, model SMCWPCIT-G, it's not mentioned in suse HCL, but it works fine even with WEP.

Try modprobe ath_pci and read dmesg. If everything works ifconfig ath0.

    modprobe outputs:
WARNING: Could not open '/lib/modules/2.6.13/net/ath_hal.ko': No such file or directory
WARNING: Could not open '/lib/modules/2.6.13/net/ath_rate_sample.ko': No such file or directory
FATAL: Could not open '/lib/modules/2.6.13/net/ath_pci.ko': No such file or directory

    dmesg output attached

Sounds like there's no madwifi support..

    Have a look here:
