Is this a ritual when someone is new to the boards they go thru a phase of getting ripped up and then eventually they get a little respect. Nobody on these boards has any idea yet of my experience or background nor do I know of the people on the boards.

I did not come to this site to have to prove anything, I simply came on here to network with people in the field, learn from others experience, possibly help other people out in the field this was my reasoning behind joining the site.

To tell you the truth I have found a lot of valuable information on here, although when ever I seem to post something it turns the wrong way.

I may not have the most experience in the security field "5 years" but I have been a part of some good organizations and I do have some solid knowledge on many aspects of security and much to contribute.

So rip me up if you like or give me sometime being on Antionline before flaming me to toast.

It's all good though, I am not the type of person to disrespect or flame anyone so I will not resort to that level and that is not why I came on to Antionline.

Just because someone is looking for advice on starting a business does it mean that you should be flamed for trying to better yourself and the community. Is this what Antionline is all about?

You guys are unbelieveable!!! This site is meant to be helpful and to contribute and build the security industry not to put people down that are trying to move up in the field!!!!

So from what I saw in your answers you threw around buzz words (yet again) and software names... I didn't see any technical details.. other than you said you weren't a programming (but you want to do code audits) and you were "familiar" with networking equipment and then said you can setup Cisco Devices... to what extent?

Like I said you're nothing but buzz words...

Honestly HTRegz, what are you looking for here, this is a forum. What else can you say but buzzwords. How much time you think I have "what I'm going to get into details on everything, it would take me days and weeks" A pentest sup to none to explain all the detail will take a 20 page white paper, which I do not have the time for. Well anyways take it for what its worth, and I got to get back to working, since I should be watching my network here at work.

Obviously I must know what I'm talking about if I can use buzzwords in the right context. correct. Who's to say that you or anyone else have anymore knowledge than I have. I'm not saying I know everything, but I know I have a good grasp on the security industry.

At this point it is your grasp on reality I wonder about.

Interestingly enought I consider myself very tech savy on some degrees. Being a member of this site alone I have gained a tremendous amount of knowledge on varying levels of IT. I can throw some pretty good jargon around too since I have been here and listened to professionals talk about various things. I have been in IT and my type of roll for about 7 years now and in no way shape or form would I dare to do a pen test and charge for it. I would be willing to make recommendations for someone based on their environment and then explain why they would/should implent various procedures and security steps but I don't think I could charge for it.

You have mentioned having all these certs but i am suprised to see you haven't listed any of them. The advice you are getting from everyone is by no means an attack (except maybe HT hes a bit crazy ) but exactly that... its advice. Based on what we have seen you comment on and what knowledge you have displayed it is highly likly that your business would crash and burn and then you would be jobless etc. This would be exactly the type of advice I would hope someone would give me if i havent displayed a strong sense of knowledge.

Cert wise I have CISSP, GIAC/GSEC, CCNA, Cisco firewall specialist part of CCSP, MCP, CNA, Security +, net+, A+. Certs in my opinion don't matter to anyone but HR. It is really a matter of what you know and what you can actually do.
