    Smile I love Google!!!

They are planning on warning users about sites known to contain malware...

Google is building a new "traffic cop" layer into its search engine to help internet users dodge websites containing spyware and malicious code.

When web users click on a link from Google's search results to a site that is known to contain malware, they will soon be directed to a page that reads: "Warning - the site you are about to visit may harm your computer!"

My kids use google alot .....and I am pretty sure thats where all the spyware comes in from....thier searches.

They are pretty good at not allowing pop ups....and not clicking on stuff.....but an added warning cant hurt....

    I love google...

So are they going to give you that message when you search for "Google Desktop"?

Google has helped me troubleshoot so many different software\hardware\malware issues....I dont think I could do my job as well if I didnt have access to it.

Google and the MS Knowledge base

I dont know about google desktop...dont run it ..or use it...

I like google news and google earth and google images and google preferences

and of course my favorite feature "search within results"

I wouldn't count on Google to filter spyware. Someone will engineer countermeasures. And undoubtably some lawyers will challenge their malware definitions ala 180Solutions.

I just added the new Google Toolbars to my browsers. Supposedly, it will put the warning up if you hit a site that is not what it appears to be. Mostly a phishing foil, I think. Haven't hit anything that brought the message, yet.

    I must try harder.

Lawdy, I loathe toolbars. Can't you just get that from reading the URL?
