Have you ever managed to do this before?

I know that "free" e-mail account providers have gradually been shutting down their support for POP3 (?) unless you upgrade to a subscription account. I am not sure what the position is in your part of the World. Can you check with friends/colleagues and see if they are having the same problem?

Can you try it on a different machine?

You didnt say what version of Outlook you were using but try this: Tools-Accounts-Mail-Server... then make sure your username/password is correct and that its actually authenicating for you. Make sure that the mail is going to and from the correct site. i.e. hotmail.com hope this helps!

I would delete and rebuild the email account for hotmail. Hotmail uses HTTP.

    HOTMAIL URL server is http://services.msn.com/svcs/hotmail/httpmail.asp

what error code are you reciving when you try to connect? Should be 0x800cccxx <--something similar.

    Good Evening,

When all else fails, I'd build it up again from scratch:

    Microsoft

    cheers
