Speaking of IM protection, what's the best AV app for scanning incoming attachments via IM? Do any of them scan IM like they do email?
I'm not particularly hep to AV apps (I don't use anything but online scans), but I'm starting to notice computers I believe were infected via IM. Thanks.

Linux is pretty good against viruses.
Computers do not have problems, they have users.

D3V!L a word of advice with AVG........................
Check your schedules and don't have a background scan running when it is likely to try to update (usually within an hour of boot/connection). If you leave your machine on all the time schedule the scan to run in the middle of the night............ it doesn't usually try to update then

Hello yeck , and welcome to AntiOnline.
Yes, Kaspersky is another quality AV product. It has become a more far reaching solution, just like Norton (Symantec), McAfee (NAI), Panda, PC-Cillin and the rest.
I certainly like the Kaspersky site for its analyses of malware, they are amongst the most comprehensive. Also they have a facility where you can send them a suspect file for analysis, and this does get good attention.
The downside in my part of the World, is that it is rather expensive

I find the best AV to be the one that you update regularly
and check the logs too
agree with sentiments about AV usage
use Clark Connect in between router and switch at home
and an AV on all boxes
use S/W F/W's too
STILL got hit though
so now I'm in my SIXTIES FFS
WTAF, how did that happen, so no more alterations to the sig, it will remain as is now
