    AMD sockets

    Hi guys

I know it's gonna sound dum, but I have been out of touch with the hardware world for a while now

I wanted to know what's the difference between socket 939 and 940 in AMD grading, as I decided to upgrade my system a little and I can't seem to find skt 940 motherboards on sale in the site I usualy shop with.

    Hi,

You should find most of what you want to know here:

    http://computing-dictionary.thefreed...MD64%20sockets

Basically a 939 is "a 940 with its head kicked in"................. like it is a cheap option for AMD 64s

Just remember that "balance is the key"................ no point in having a fancy MoBo if the rest of the build doesn't match?

    Thanks alot that realy helped.

I am only going to upgrade the motherboard and processor as mine ones are 3 years old.

My graphics card is prety old as well, but it's 256M/B ATI 9600, so it should las me for a couple of years more.
