Question Help to bypass a Firewall/Router!

    Hello everyone,
    i have a little problem...

I want to setup a Server behind a firewall/Router, which seems to be closed for incoming traffic.
But i can reach almost everything from my location.

My box is a WindowsXp Pro sp2,
I want to start an FTP-Server so i can reach it from other locations.

Is it possible, or is it impossible?

Inside the network i can install almost anything, i have no restriction without through router(gateway).

Tunneling? is it an option? Or can i use any other trick to go around this?

    Hugs //Lazyfish

Appreciat any suggestions, give me some thoughts.

Log into the router, open the ports needed

    and forward to your machine

Yeah, best bet is to just port-forward the necessary ports on your router to the machine inside the network.

Otherwise you could always try FTP Tunneling assuming the router already has open ports.

Remember when you try to connect from the outside, you need to use your Public IP address, and not your Private IP address, or it won't work.

morganlefay>> Have no rights to enter router and forwardports.

[WebCarnage] >> I'm going to read more about thus ftp tunneling, seems to be on solution if the network is open port 21 as a port scan sayz.

cheyenne1212>> Yes thank you, i have looked that up, and i have same IP both inside and outside network(strange?).

    ::::Ok, More information:::::
I have a public ip that i use both inside and outside my location.
I have no right to get inside router.
Gateway have a shh login prompt (but have no keys), but only from inside location.

If i scan my locations ip from outside the result is:
    port 21
    port 110
everything else seems not to be open.
Hm, then i should start to test installing a ftp server because it seems to be open.

So if i should sum up:
I have access to almost everything except the traffic beetween Work location and Home Location.
I have permission to try to solve this from admin, but he won't help me with anything. And
it exist one solution that he uses with same priviligies as a user.
After a port scan, port 21 and 110 seems to be open.
And i want to install server inside the location, ftp, rat(remote access tools).

One intressting thing is if i port scan 1-500(port) on both gateway *.*.*.1 and my computer *.*.*.183 the get the same result in scanner. The same as i wrote 21, 110.
But inside location gives me a diffrent result, gateway only port 22(ssh-server).

If port 21 is open, then setup the FTp server and give it a shot.

Since you have a public IP inside it shoudl work, as long as the router doesn't block the port.

If this is indeed your setup, then you will never talk to the server. Two things can't have the same PUBLIC IP address.

If the external interface of your router has an external IP of say 100.100.100.100 and your server behind the router has an IP of 100.100.100.100 then all traffic is going to hit your router only, you could try and set up port redirection but as you say the server has the same IP as the router, you will just confuse the crap out of the router.

try giving the server a different IP to that of the router and initiate a connection to an external service from the inside of your network - if this works you kniow your IP addressing works and can look into tunneling methods.

Sounds like your admin is already running an FTP server on another computer there, in which case the router is already programmed by him/her for that port. You might give Hamachi a shot.

    Hmmmmm

So you could try asking the preson in charge to set this up for you.
