    Question Error 0x80040706

    when i try to install google earth setup i get

    Error Number: 0x80040706
    Description: Obect Reference not set

    Setup will now terminate


    Well i googled it and got a patch for this on InstallShield Website and when i try to install that it shows me the same error.

    Couple of quick things to check:

    1. Are you logged in as administrator?
    2. Turn off your AV

    If you cannot do someone any good: don't do them any harm....

    Hey nihil I am logged as Administrator

    and after some more search on Google Earth's website I got http://earth.google.com/support/bin/...572&topic=1135

    But still I am getting the same old error

    Hi,

    Did you try to update the InstallShield with the AV off?.............worth trying with the firewall and any other anti malwares off as well?

    What is your OS BTW?

    DCOM comes to mind for some reason?

    First of all sorry for not answering

    Nihil I tried to install InstallShield with AV, firewall and anti malwares off....
    but this too is showing me the same error

    I am using Win xp with no sp

    Hey Rock_Bill ole chap......................I can support you back to DOS 3.0 and would do so.............. but this modern Billy Windows stuff is a bit more complex?

    My advice is to go to SP2....... you need to get a hurry on mate! it will close shortly IIRC?
