Oh man, I cannot even imagine the enormity of the task. I have customized little forums with few users and was a serious pain in the butt. To do something this large and pray nothing happens in the process must of caused you guys to sweat bullets.
I can imagine some test runs of the upgrade had to be done before attempting to try it on the live server.
I am cringing just thinking about it.

Sure, we ran it twice in dev. The 1st failed, the 2nd succeeded, pretty much what happened in the live attempts, the 1st failed, the 2nd succeeded.

Well most of em aren't nearly this bad. Most take a 1-2 hrs for the DB dump, and my part usually takes about an hr. We've done an entire upgrade on the smaller sites in an hour. This 1 was absolutely 1 of a kind, thank god.

Yeah, you are right, import scripts and the like for smaller forums are not too bad at all.
Just right now, looking at it, there is tons and tons of work left.

Now that we have the backend working, we can take a look at the graphics and buttons, etc. I'll have our design team have a look to see if they can improve it a bit. We really appreciate all the comments--keep 'em coming!

OMG!!! I'm Lost!!!
Ok where is everything? Whodunit!!!
I pop in to see how everything is with all of my good ol buddies here at AO and spent half a day figuring out how to find everything. I admit I have not read "all" the posts in this thread. I understand that you have all done a lot of work. And I do understand the severity of the project. I will have to get used to it I suppose.
Imagine yourself kissing your loved one goodnight and turning out the lights... Wake up and get out of bed and you realize that you are not where you fell asleep... Everything is different, you open the closet to get dressed and you don't even recognize the clothes in it.... "Honey?" Uhm, whats going on here? am I sick?" she steps into view and she is NOT the woman you married....
hmmmm.... oh well, she is kinda hot!
I have a question; are you the bug, or the windshield?

Well that's exactly what usually happens, just not quite so abruptly
