    Random websites

    Hi,

Not really sure what is going on, when I am surfing the web or leaving my computer on standby random websites pop up out of nowhere.
    Scanners I used are
    Ad-aware
    Spybot
    AVG Free
    Housecall from trendmicro
    bitdefender online scanner

I removed everything those scanners found but the websites still pop up.

    Try this:

    1. Update AdAware and Spybot and run them in safe mode
    2. Open Spybot in "Advanced" and use the "Tools" to look at BHOs, startup items and the like.

    3. Get EWIDO and A-Squared, update them and run them.

    4. Run HijackThis! ............... go to http://www.hijackthis.de/ get the software and follow the instructions. Then post the logfile on the site and they will analyse it for you.

    1. Get rid of all things that reference Party Poker.

    2. Your XP should be at SP2

    3. Your Internet Explorer is out of date.

You don't seem to be running a firewall? is this correct?

Good, please get rid of "party poker" as I suspect that is your source of pop-ups.

Also update Internet Explorer, particularly the security updates?

    Absolutely what Nihil say's

    Have HJT fix:

This has been associated with Flashget download manager and has Cydoor Adware bundled, if you register the ads should disappear, but IMO have it fixed.
    O3 - Toolbar: (no name) - {E0E899AB-F487-11D5-8D29-0050BA6940E3} - (no file)

Also, this was left over from a Bitdefender online scan

    O9 - Extra button: (no name) - {85d1f590-48f4-11d9-9669-0800200c9a66} - %windir%\bdoscandel.exe (file missing)

    Definately remove this:

    O9 - Extra button: PartyPoker.com - {B7FE5D70-9AA2-40F1-9C6B-12A255F085E1} - C:\Program Files\PartyGaming\PartyPoker\RunApp.exe

    O9 - Extra 'Tools' menuitem: PartyPoker.com - {B7FE5D70-9AA2-40F1-9C6B-12A255F085E1} - C:\Program Files\PartyGaming\PartyPoker\RunApp.exe

Note: Look for C:\Program Files\PartyGaming<Delete the entire folder.

    Get Ccleaner
Use this to clean out all of your junk and use the options to scan your registry for issues as well as use it's startup feature to manage your startups...oh yeah when installing ignore the yahoo bar feature, unless you want it.

That's not too bad a log file actually. Yes, IE is a bit out of date and it would seem to imply you're only running XP with SP1, but you're using the most up to date Hijackthis software and there's nothing really bad there.

    The worst entry is this:

    O3 - Toolbar: (no name) - {E0E899AB-F487-11D5-8D29-0050BA6940E3} - (no file)

Information I dug up on it was as follows:

Entries found in this registry zone are potentially nasty. This application ([E0E899AB-F487-11D5-8D29-0050BA6940E3] - Result: E0E899AB-F487-11D5-8D29-0050BA6940E3) has been checked. Hit rate: 100,00%. Unnecessary (deactivated) entry that can be fixed.

Other entries that could do with attention are:

    O9 - Extra button: ******* SWF Catcher - {E19ADC6E-3909-43E4-9A89-B7B676377EE3} - C:\Program Files\Common Files\SourceTec\SWF Catcher\InternetExplorer.htm
To be fixed if the entry '******* SWF Catcher ' is unknown.

    O9 - Extra 'Tools' menuitem: ******* SWF Catcher - {E19ADC6E-3909-43E4-9A89-B7B676377EE3} - C:\Program Files\Common Files\SourceTec\SWF Catcher\InternetExplorer.htm
To be fixed if the entry '******* SWF Catcher ' is unknown.

O8 - Extra context menu item: ******* SWF Catcher - C:\Program Files\Common Files\SourceTec\SWF Catcher\InternetExplorer.htm. Entries shown in the menu that pops up when right-clicking into the Internet Explorer. Unknown entries should be fixed.

The partypoker entries aren't malicious, but if you aren't using them they could be deleted.
