    IP cameras

    Hi 2 all,
    I have a question about video survelliance with network cameras. I wonder is it possible to connect 4 or more ip cameras with one IP address? What exactly I The idea is to watch 4 ip cameras over the internet, but not to open 4 iexplorers, but without need to connect any other hardware except (may be) one pc (again without other software)

    Depends on the device the cameras are connected to...

    I have one site ...a retail store where we have a DVD recorder that requires an IP address...6 cameras are connected to that device.

    The only device that the ip cameras can be connected is pc.

    So then they wont need seperate IPs ...just the computer its connected to will need an IP...

    What type of connection are the cameras using...and how many are you talking about??

    No???

    May want to use a static ip...makes it easier to monitor etc

    The cameras will be 4 or more and I want to connect them to the pc without dvr card. Can I connect them to the pc via switch and use some software for remote access and monitoring all the cameras?

    I am very confused???

    How do the cameras connect to the PC???

    What type of cable do the camera use to connect to the PC???

    If they use CAT5...then they will need thier own IP addresses as they cannot share those...

    and I suggest static IPs

    if you wanna monitor...or find them easily on the network.

    Look at my prev post. I will connect them to the pc via switch (they are IP cameras) in LAN. I need some software or some other solution (but not hardware) to monitor them through internet. Because if I connect them directly to internet I must open four iexplorers to watch them (they have an integrated webserver).

    no you cant have them share 1 IP

    Check out Axis. They may have built-in webservers to view each camera but they should also have html code to make your own webpage and embed all of the camera views and arrange them in any multi-view format you want.

    You might check out something like this.

    I have one of these. The quality is only fair but, it's cheap. No computer required. Just a router or hub connected to the internet.
