i went to the dallascon website and it says the conference was canceled! does anyone know why?

A reasonable assumption would be not enough subscribers and sponsors.
DallasCon VI timeline:
1. May 7 - 12 = Original
2. August 20 - 25 = Rescheduled
3. August 24 - 25 = Downsized
4. Cancelled
