AVG prof virus definitions
Hi all
Just would like to know where AVG stores virus definitions. What extention does it use? Everytime I install I have to redownload definitions.
Thanks

Of course you do, that is by design, to ensure that your definitions are up-to -date.
If you have a problem with the application once you have installed it, try re-running the installation executable and take the "repair" option.
If you then have to update the whole definitions file, it probably means that your definitions file got corrupted.

On the positive side, at least AVG has a repair function
In these days of incremental updates, the pattern/signature files do get corrupted from time to time, due to failed downloads.
I recently had to fix a copy of PC-cillin (v14) that had that problem. I had to download the relevant files in their entirety, manually replace them and then run the update!!!
Incidentally the files in AVG are incavi.avm and upd_vers.cfg I believe.
