    Storm in a Biometric teacup?

This has been hitting the news in the UK the past few days. Apparently some schools are looking at using biometric identification to monitor school meal consumption

Ok.. You must have read a different article than what you posted. It specifically says the system is used for parents and teachers on restricted areas. No children use the system.

"The biometric access system installed at Snapdragons Nursery in Bath does not scan children’s fingerprints; it registers parents and staff to allow secure door access."

    Sorry Mate!

Mixed the two together.............. there was another one on the meals thing that even made national TV over here............ my reason for bringing it to the attention of the forum was that it shows a certain "Luddite" mentality that IT security people are going to have to face?

I was surprised to see this in the UK, as we are generally far less concerned about our civil liberties than the US?

Biometrics is the oldest ID system in existence. I'm sure Queen Elizabeth (the first)
recognized sir Francis Drake by certain physical characteristics.
I came in to the world with nothing. I still have most of it.
