OpenSUSE 10.2 - signal out of range
after installation i get this error message and my monitor turns off
i have a lg l1511sk monitor and nvidia 7300gt video card.
any ideas how to work this out???? linux newbie here. thanks

You didn't set up X properly. that means the signal is out of range, like it says. So just read up on X, and make sure you set the horizontal and vertical refresh rates at something you can actually use on your monitor.
If you can't boot at all you can probably get to run level 3 which doesn't use X, you'd be at command line only, which would allow you to fix this with YAST.
get to run level 3, log in as root, type this:
yast
Then go through hardware to check the settings on the monitor.

i followed your instructions, but when i get to the point in yast control center where i select the "video card and monitor" option, it gives me the same error message once again and turns the monitor off.
