I m having a problem while installing MS SQL SERVER 2005!
Initially I had the Developer edition, which got corrupted without giving me a single clue....why it happend!
And later to free some space, i uninstalled all the SQL components from add/remove programs!
Now, i have this Enterprise edition which when i tried to install went till the last and cropped up with an error:
"A component that you have specified in the ADD_LOCAL property is already installed. To upgrade the existing component, refer to the template.ini and set the UPGRADE property to the name of the component."
what to do??
i have tried removing the instance from my control panel and re-installing but the same error popped up again!
You might want to start by trying it on a supported OS. XP ain't one of them. I don't even know if you can fake it to install on XP. It's missing some major requirements right there.
guidance = install on 2000 Server (sp4) or 2003 Server or download the free Desktop version.

West of House
You are standing in an open field west of a white house, with a boarded front door.
There is a small mailbox here.
I have installed SQL Server 2000 and the SQL SERVER 2005 Express Edition on my Windows XP earlier and they worked fine.
So, I think the current version i.e. SQL SERVER 2005 Enterprise Edition must also work normally. Do u think, it requires some server component that might be present in the SERVER OS and not the CLIENT OS?
Thanks
n installing a new OS will b a bit difficult for me. coz this I m using on my own standalone home machine for doing out a project.....and I may not be able to get a new OS at this point of time!
