I was going to say that the US are abit paranoid but I suppose they have to be ...
The world is a dangerous place to live; not because of the people who are evil, but because of the people who don't do anything about it.

I guess the problem is that Americans have no idea of how we view Armistice Day, and respect our fallen? Also, their "Veterans' Association" is government run, rather than an independent charitable organisation such as we have.
I guess it is a British, Canadian, Anzac, South African thing?
Incidentally, the poppy emblem was inspired by a poem written by a WWI canadian field doctor, so it is a fitting subject for a Canadian commemorative coin.

I was all set to disagree with you about the poppy symbolism, In grade school we had to memorize that poem, being an "egotistical" American I thought a yank had wrote it. A quick Wiki changed my error.
"In Flanders Field the poppies grow..."
The symbolism of the poppy is not lost on us however, the veterans groups sell poppies to raise funds and commemorate the war dead. History isn't strong subject here, which is why we are doomed to make the same mistakes.
Your Armistice Day (Rememberance Day), 11th month, 11th day, 11th hour has become our Veterans Day, a day we should be honoring veterans alive and fallen. Our Memorial Day, last Monday of May is when we commemorate our fallen.
