    phishing scams and ebay

Hi I am a bit paranoid about managing my profile on ebay. Why is it that I have to enter my CC info if I want to change email associated with my profile. After I have already logged into myebay, I have an additional log-in screen when modifying profile data. Does that make sense?

Actually I just found the answer. It was not a phishing scam. Ebay doesn't want you to use free email such as gmail or hotmail, etc, because your identity cannot be verified. The only other way to trace your identity is via CC. I guess if you have an email from an ISP or an email account that can be used to trace your identity, then you're ok. Does this makes sense?
thanks nihil, I am just always paranoid when it comes to CC numbers.
