Try unsubscribing without re-subscribing

OK - will you post a test message again in the dumb user post? I've unsubscribed.

Well, I didn't get a notification at all about that. I only found out about it by checking the thread. I might as well resubscribe again.
Edit And it's back to the duplicate notifications. It is strange
Whoops! I realise I double posted just before - sorry.

Hi Moira,
I have moved the offending thread from Tech Humour to General Chit Chat, to see if I can provoke a sufficient change in the database to have any effect.
Yeah! clutching at straws now
EDIT: Please check the Dumb User thread, I think that I have the answer but I do not know the cause. e-mail is naturally duplicated to allow for HTML and plaintext readers.
Somehow, for messages relating to this thread Moira's system is splitting these two formats out and showing them separately. It actually "knows" that they are the exact same thing (rather than a duplicate) which is why it closes them both when one is read.

Actually that did send two identical emails, but didn't open the second one when I read the first - or if it was going to, I didn't give it sufficient time. Usually this isn't the case - both are marked read once I've read one but not this time.
