Im pretty sure clamav scans for over 94,000 known viruses now haha. That doesnt include heuristics...

I also havent used Novell in some time, but NDS (Novell Directory Services[now known as eDirectory]) was indeed around long before Microsoft decided to use the concept for AD.
I would imagine this to be a natural progression regardless of who came up with the concept. Having a database that controls security/permissions across an entire network...... I dont think M$ has to steal that idea!
