    Question Downgrade Internet Explorer

    Hey all,

    Relating to my trying to solve my problems here;
    http://antionline.com/showthread.php?t=275571

    Is it possible to uninstall IE 7 (7.0.5730.11 / Update Versions: 0) and install IE 6 (The version i know to work is 6.0.3790.1830 / Update Version: SP1)

    OS: Windows Server 2003 R2 Standard, SP2

    I would imagine under the circumstances it would be important to be able to remove IE 7 entirely. I have not googled this yet as i am already flat out, and yes i know there are those out there who wont help people who havent tried.... i understand, and curse you all! [PS, for those out there who cant take a joke... i was only kidding about the curse]

    Thanks in advance guys,

    CTO

    IIRC you should be able to uninstall IE7 (and thereby returning to IE6) via "Add and Remove Programs".

    I agree with the other people - you can uninstall ie7. But...Not ie6. IE shares many of the same libraries as "explorer" and if you "fully" removed them all explorer would crap the bed as well.

    oofki has it right there, which leads me to ask....why on earth do you want to remove IE 7? since you have to have it, better to have the latest version surely? even if you hate IE, 7 is more secure than 5.

    He wants IE6 not 5. 5 (or 5.5) isn't supported anymore. And I seriously doubt you can remove 6 and install 5 on XP/2K3.

    I had IE7 for about 10 min. Decided it was crap and removed it again.

    I quite like it. does a better job of following standards, tabbed browsing, faster....
    you know, all the good stuff other browsers were doing years ago.

    I always use firefox but shortly after ie7 came out I tried it too and I cant say it lasted even that long on my computer.

    I was talking with a fellow employee yesterday about how bad IE is. for 1 it doesn't follow standards and 2 who idea was it to create active x - almost all of the same functionality of a regular program but can be loaded from any page. /insecure
