What is undevtrigger -retry failed ???

I recently installed Slackware for the first time
When I boot I get, Triggering udev events: /sbin/undevtrigger --retry-failed

What does this mean? From other forums I read that nothings wrong. However, what does it mean?

Any Ideas?

udevd listens to kernel uevents and passes the incoming events to udev. It ensures the right event order and takes care that events for child devices are delayed until the parent has finished the device handling.

Have a look at dmesg and see if you spot something wrong at startup.

I printed dmesg and have little clue on how to go about correcting this.

How do I determine what is a child event verses parent event?

Where can I learn more about this?

I did not want to post the dmesg it is rather long.
However I do get the following error:

kobject_add failed for uhci_hcd with -EEXIST, don't try to register things with the same name in the same directory

Before you do that, have you updated the kernel recently? If not, update it and see if the error goes away.

Also man udevtrigger will explain what it does.

Please forgive me but Im quite new to Linux.
I started with debian etch this last january. Debian automatically updates the kernel. However, It would occasionally freeze. I discovered that it was a common problem having read several posts on the same subject.

Slackware 12 just came out and I heard only positive. I just installed it about three weeks ago. I have kernel 2.6.21.5.
I am not sure how to update the kernel other then slapt-get --update, slapt-get --upgrade. It upgrades packages. I am not sure if it will upgrade the kernel.

What does all of this mean? I have a belkin external multi usb port hub.
I will unplug it and reboot and see what happens.
