    Ubuntu Firefox problem

I am having a problem with firefox in ubuntu... occasionally when I hit the back button, FF greys out, like when you bring up the 'shut down' dialog in windows, or when you are asked for a password in Ubuntu... but never comes back up... I actually have to kill the process for ff, and restart it. Has anyone else run across this? Or have any suggestions? any help is much appreciated.

    here are the specs.

    Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux i686; en-US; rv:1.8.1.8) Gecko/20071022 Ubuntu/7.10 (gutsy) Firefox/2.0.0.8

    Hi westin,

First thing I would do is update Firefox. You should be at 2.0.0.9. I notice that your Gecko is only 3 days older than mine as well, so maybe 2.0.0.8 wasn't as stable as it might have been?

Out of curiosity, how do you "hit the back button"? Do you use the green arrow or the backspace key...............does it make any difference?

    Smile

Are you sure that the short cut key is not actually activating an OS related shortcut instead.?

maybe check the shortcut settings in FireFox and see if there are any conflictions.

    Hi teabags,

I see where you are coming from, but westin did say "occasionally"?

If it were a misconfigured shortcut key, I would expect it to happen all the time?

I missed the Occasionally part. lol teach me to brainstorm ideas while drinking the morning coffee, and trying to have a meaningful convo with the wife.

Multitasking on a Saturday morning pfffffffft.

Although i have experienced similar incidents while using my Debian box, have shortcut keys setup, and sometimes when using programs those shortcut keys sometimes interfer with the programs shortcut keys thus resulting in sometimes amusing situations.

Actually teabags, that is something you just taught me............ it would have most probably taken me several hours to think about shortcut keys in a similar situation where that may well have been the answer.

Nice one mate!............ shame that humour website seems to support Carlton?

(Well it couldn't be Newcastle United huh?)
