    Blade runner.

A new version of blade runner is coming out. For me it is one of the defining pictures of movie sciencefiction. So what do you lot think of the film and how its message holds up today. How do you think the film holds up against the more modren sci-fi movies? link to a bbc interview with Ridley scott.

I agree, the Star Trek and Star Wars series are glitz and whatnot but BladeRunner was a glimpse into a possible future...I liked the tone and the music was appropriate for setting the mood..

I also think this was Rutger Haurs best role and Fords....the grimy scenes look like they could be a reality 20 yrs from now....

It was and is a great movie. Like you said it feels like it could be real one day. That was also why I liked the Roadwarrior movies, I could see society degenerating in to something similar.

Bladerunner set the standards for science fiction movies. I was looking at it the other day and even up against the newer special effect heavy movies it doen't look that dated. I would agree Dalek it was hauers et fords best roles.

Certainly a classic............ I rate it alongside Soylent Green in that respect. I think that the making of Bladerunner I and Soylent Green is that they both depend upon screenplay and acting rather than "eye candy" special effects?

I think that it is time you returned to the Emerald Isle for a while. You are starting to pick up bad habits.

I would agree Dalek it was hauers et fords best roles.
And please don't try to tell us that the "habits" are nuns' and that is Latin

Here is another interview with Scott by Wired magazine.

    http://www.wired.com/entertainment/h...aderunner_full

The 4 disk collection comes with all the revisions of Blade Runner that has been done plus a bonus DVD. It's a good read for fans of the movie, or of Scott's work in general.
