    I will try that Nihil.

I did an online scan with trend micro and quite a few vulnerabilities came up. I am going through them one by one. One of the patches I downloaded for Exel 2007 failed on installation. I will download the rest and keep everyone updated.

I have a feeling alot of them or even all of them are going to fail.

The IE problem that Arpanet gave me links for: I followed the instructions to stop start the service however the service is/was already running so I have no idea what the problem is as the solution was to start the service but it is/was already running...

I find this helps a lot when shutting down a PC.

    User Profile Hive Cleanup Service

    Brief Description

A service to help with slow log off and unreconciled profile problems.

Check this site out for services... http://www.blackviper.com/

When did these problems start, was it after you installed a program, if so can you go back to a restore point, just prior and try that.

    Hi Cider,

I just noticed that you had a problem applying a Microsoft fix. Please get that sorted out first, as I have known systems with failed patches throw all sorts of weird problems.

This is a good tool for checking whether the fixes loaded properly. If you have any with a red x next to them, go into "add/ remove programs", delete them and reinstall.

I cant seem to install the hotfixes for office 2007. I have no idea what the problem is. Format is the only way i think.

I finally got INternet Explorer to install. I got Panda Internet Security 2008 to Security Suite. Excellent product. Has anyone had experience with this product or any of the panda products?

I still cant get the Offices hotfixes to install for some reason; they are always failing.

    Hey guys

I found something in my accounts. Right click [My Computer] ; manage ; and you go into the different types of users. Power users , administrators etc are listed. On dbl clicking on Administrator. The following was listed.

    Administrator
Cider - which is myself whom

Now there was a third one listed.

Sis [ or something similar ] with digits listed with it. I should of taken a screenshot however I got so paranoid I just hit delete and rebooted. This all happened so fast so it might not have been Sis or whatever.

    Can anyone comment on this?

    -------------------------------------------------------------------------

Ok on the original issue. Where can I reinstall/uninstall the "Windows Installers".

    Thanks.

    ------------------------------------------

One more thing. I was connected to a domain when I installed certain programs, cant remember.

Now I am not, my machine is at home now not at work.

Could this also be a problem?
