one word = alienware =) lol
No, more like , because you cannot be serious.
Just Google for Alienware sucks, and wonder why you get 199,000 hits? Then try Alienware problems
"Boutique" computers? hell they don't even make them, they just rebadge other peoples stuff, add some eye candy and charge an exorbitant price. You go to a boutique for clothes, and to technologists for technology.

lol, true
I was offering examples as something to base a custom build on, or if he had to do a payment plan.
I personally, had to do a payment plan on my last PC because I had recently had a kid, and was recovering financially, but *needed* a new computer. So I made a payment plan through dell.
*shrug*

Hi
Thanks guys for the additional input. From a gamers (!) point of view
I like the idea of using a readyboost capable flashdrive for the pagefile.
May be worth a try.
I now bought a Intel Core Duo (6850) with 8800GTX, 4GB DDR2, Vista64.
So far, I am smoothly playing (though, I have not tried Crysis yet ).
Cheers

Honestly, it may have been better to wait a couple months. There are some new technologies coming out soon (or will be cheaper) that would be nice to have (DDR3 for motherboards, DDR5 for video cards, solid state hard drives, etc).

Those alienware boxes are really outstanding. They had one at Best Buy awhile back and I wanted to trade a kid for it. The wife didn't want to go along and there were no takers anyway.
