Trying to access VISTA PC w/ XP PC. Vista asking for name/pass.
PC1: XP
PC2: Vista
Device: Belkin Router.
I have 3 PCs (two XPs and one Vista) on a network. Each XP pc can connect to each other (via: Start>Run: \\i.p.addy.here). When either XP pc try and connect to the Vista PC, the Vista one asks for a username and pass.
The Vista PC has folder sharing turned on.
The Vista PC has only one user. I tried that user's u/p. Didn't work.
I also tried:
admin
admin
blank
admin
admin
password
User's: 'username'
User's: 'password'
blank
blank
I don't know what to do now.
Thanks in advance!

I forgot to mention that the Vista PC is wireless. I'm not sure that matters.

Do you have the IPv6 topology patch for XP?
Or, have you tried disabling IPv6 functionality in Vista?

which version of Vista ??
if it's the home one, you might as well give up now
you need business, and then the premium would be best too
we don't allow any Vista boxes onto our domain, as it has a tendency to promote itself to master browser, which is something else not required
luck to you
what a way to spend christmas
one last ..........
even though it's 'wireless' you may still have to hard wire it to the network to set it up
least ways, that is what I do, I find it quicker to access and deploy

I pray its Home Premium or Business.
Ultimate on a Xp network can be a nightmare.
