Vista & XP hand in hand...

Okay I posted a little bit ago about how my friend and I got a few old pc's for moving some stuff, well it has Windows 2000 on it, and he couldn't bypass the admin password... So I went up there and created an .ISO of one of the many bootable password removers, cleared that up. Now he is the admin, but when he downloads things like aim, or a p2p program (I believe he used Limewire) they can't connect... He didn't want me to mess with it, instead he asked If I could get him a copy of Windows XP.

So I "found" a copy and it got me thinking, how great it would be to have a dual boot laptop. So I partitioned the hard drive and put in the disc, loaded up everything, when it gets to the part where I chose where to install; it says there is no partitions on the hard drive, and after about 10 seconds I get the BSD with tech code of
    Code:
    0x0000008E (0xC0000005, 0x80817371, 0xF6FD0778, 0x00000000)
Any ideas on why this happened? What I am doing wrong etc... (I figured it wouldn't be this easy, but why not give it a try)

    Hmmm,

What are the hardware specifications of this box?

I believe that you might have problems with SATA drives and Win XP. I seem to recall that you need the drivers on a floppy/CD and hit F6 (I think) to get them to install.

Otherwise I think that you might have an option to disable SATA native support in the BIOS.

The reason I suggest this is:

when it gets to the part where I chose where to install; it says there is no partitions on the hard drive,

Sorry, I am new to what OS need or can not have to run... I don't really pay much attention to this aspect of computer's. (probably because Microsoft charges an arm and a leg for their Operating Systems)

I guess if I really want to do this, ill have to do some research =) (surprise)
    thanks for your help!
