Upgrading from Office 2003 to 2007
Hi there all
We are a small office, around 12 desktop pc's and a few laptops. Half of the office has MS Office 2003 and the other half 2007.
Now logically it would be better to have everyone running the same version.
Most of the computers have 512 mb Ram and P4 2.0 ghz +/- - Give or take.
Will the computers handle it? We run a couple of resource intensive programs which the company has too.
What would be my best approach to management?
Upgrade everyone to 1gb ram?
Any suggestions availble.
Thanks

I believe that this is one of those issues where the end users will quickly give you the answer: just install Office 2007 on one of the "target" boxes, and if the user complains about speed, give 'em some extra memory... Office 2007 can be a resource hog, and a lot is going to depend on how it's being used (having Outlook + Word + Excel + PowerPoint open, each with documents with dozens of pages and graphs is likely to have a serious impact on a PC with only 512 MB of RAM). If most of the computers only have 512, I would have stuck with Office 2003 on all of them in the first place. Or another option: just set the Office 2007's to automatically save in 2003 format - that way, everybody will have the same version of documents.

Heya Negative.
I already save it as a 97-2003 format however I was thinking in terms of maintenace, service packs etc. But I suppose its not such a bandwidth hog. Just an extra service pack for the 2003 ones.
