    I think that Maestr0 is in the USA so it could be a US Federal ruling or even his state's one?

    Just remember reading this a while ago. I guess its not technically 'illegal' since this was a civil case, but clearly morons in our judicial system can find judgement against you here if they deem your actions constitute "hacking". While I think the ruling was pretty retarded, I didn't want to send anyone into legal problems if they start sucking zone files off random DNS servers.

    It wasn't so much the "sucking" that was illegal but the disclosure of that information...

    Because the defendant was able to procure this information and published it in various USENET groups, the plaintiff claims that the act was a violation of the computer crime statute.
