I had used a spamblocker recently and when i removed it from use it corrupted the hosts file.
Each time i scan with AVG it says "Hosts file" unreadable.
Does anybody have a "HOSTS" file that can be posted here in text format?
So i can replace the one i have.
# Copyright (c) 1998 Microsoft Corp.
# This is a sample HOSTS file used by Microsoft TCP/IP stack for Windows98
# This file contains the mappings of IP addresses to host names. Each
# entry should be kept on an individual line. The IP address should
# be placed in the first column followed by the corresponding host name.
# The IP address and the host name should be separated by at least one
# space.
# Additionally, comments (such as these) may be inserted on individual
# lines or following the machine name denoted by a '#' symbol.
# For example:
# 102.54.94.97 rhino.acme.com # source server
# 38.25.63.10 x.acme.com # x client host
127.0.0.1 localhost
I came in to the world with nothing. I still have most of it.
Info_AU: I recommend you just use the default hosts file that rcgreen posted. Just be sure when you save it that it is just "hosts" and doesn't have any extension such as .txt.
If you want the entries that t34b4g5 has, then simply install spybot search and destroy and use the immunize feature. It'll be more complete then just modifying the hosts file.
The hosts file is stored in %windir%\system32\drivers\etc
%windir% is your windows installation directory.
Most systems have it in c:\windows but some have it in c:\winnt. You can actually choose it's location when you install windows. Typing %windir% in the Start --> Run box will bring you right to yours.
Quitmzilla is a firefox extension that gives you stats on how long you have quit smoking, how much money you\'ve saved, how much you haven\'t smoked and recent milestones. Very helpful for people who quit smoking and used to smoke at their computers... Helps out with the urges.
I had googled it and found ones that were made in 1998 and others that had lots of other lines added and not knowing what would be there as "default".
I could not trust any of them.
