Thread: No power at all

    Hi sony,

    I am guessing that this "no video input" is something on the screen? Please try powering up the screen with it disconnected from the computer........ do you get the same message?

    Can you try a different (known to work) video connection cable?

    Could you still get in to the BIOS even though it says no video input
    Yes, it sounds like it is booting at least part way. Trouble is that without a display you cannot see what you are doing On the other hand you might be able to, as BIOS setup is minimalistic............. worth a try?

    I have done it, i took the 1 gb of ram from the slot closest to the cpu and put it in to the slot furthest away from the cpu and it has worked, why is that just out of question, thanks for all your help

    Hi sony,

    That sort of makes sense, as you need RAM for the computer to boot properly.

    What you were looking at was an error message from the display screen rather than the computer.

    There are two possible scenarios here:

    1. Slot 0 is defective in some way.
    2. You hadn't seated the RAM properly the first time round.

    What surprises me is that you didn't get any warning beeps from the BIOS, which you normally do if there is a video or RAM problem.
