How to get info about a person through his phone number

    Just what the title says?
How to get info about a person through his phone number?
And please don't answer that I should call him to ask myself.
I need this info because of a bet with my friend although I feel that this info will be really interesting.

Perhaps you shouldn't have made the bet?

If you don't want to call, get someone else to do so.

    Hmmmm,

An interesting question that t34b4g5 has addressed rather well. It really does depend upon where you live.

You did not state, but are we looking at mobile/cell phones or a hard wired land line?

    What did you bet on?

If it is a US cell there isn't much you can find out. If you are not allowed to call the number or have someone else call, are you allowed to know what carrier? You could try calling the carrier if you can find that and try to SE them. Pretend to be the person with that number and see what you can get, but any more they ask you for name, address and maybe other info to confirm your identity so that will likely be a dead end.

Here in Canada a reverse lookup may tell you the carrier.

What I would really like to know is...why would you make a bet like that???

morganlefay- I had heard on OTH a year or so ago that Canada even had caller ID on their cell systems. Is that true? Do you not sell anonymous cell phones, such as the Tracfones at Wally world?

Basically you can find zilch over here. If you are a subscriber and opt in you would have your name in the directory enquiry service.

If you buy a pay as you go device then there is nothing recorded about you. All you can work out (perhaps) is the service provider.
