    creating uninstallation batch file

    hey all

so now I sat by a PC and removed every single registry entry/key for maximizer software as it got corrupted and would let me install.

    so my question is

can i create a batch file which will remove every single entry / key / whatever concerning a keyword I use , for instance for maximizer?

    If you can, code?

Forget it................. unless of course, you really enjoy reinstalling your OS and all your apps?

The problem is that only a few of the relevant files and registry entries will be remotely recognisable by using a keyword.

If the application uninstall and the Windows uninstall can't get rid of it then go to the website and get the manual uninstall instructions.

    http://www.maximizer.com/support/faq.html

Another approach is to kill the folder with the executables and stuff in it then run a tool like Registry Mechanic that will spot all the useless entries and offer to get rid of them for you.

    EDIT:

I haven't come across one for years, but you also used to be able to get uninstaller applications. These basically logged all the changes that an installation made and gave you an option to uninstall.

The only real advantage over the application and possibly Windows would be that they were potentially much better at getting rid of a corrupt install because they didn't care.

    Hey there Nihil

    Thanks for the tips.

Well I went to Maximizers site but we are using ver 10 CRM. I did however follow the standard uninstall procedure from there site that you listed there.

All i did was open up the registry , searched for "maximizer" and deleted as it found until there was nothing left.

I then tried a reinstall and it worked.

however this time it said it found traces , please uninstall but gave me the option to install over which I did because I couldnt uninstall the damm thing.

The uninstaller was exactly what I was looking for.

For panda we have a unisntaller for the retail products which removes all traces from the registry, files, folders etc etc.

Dont know why a Maximizer doesnt have one.

p.s this is also related to the post about my workplace dilemma. I have never used this product yet I am left to try and fix it. I suppose I am teh techie but the other people wont even help, sigh.

If there wasnt AO I really dont know what I would do for help.

Actually I use that method to get rid of corrupted installations. If I can get a clean install then the uninstall will usually work. OK it isn't elegant, but it works, so is legitimate in my book.

Actually you don't really have a dilemma as such. Your boss certainly does, because he obviously doesn't appreciate what the training requirements are for specialist software.

The "other people won't even help" because they don't know how to? I would bet that their training has been ignored just as much as yours.

I suspect that your colleague isn't trying to pass her work onto you (that is a good way to get replaced) but actually doesn't know how to use your Customer Relationship Management software to do her own job. All you might have to do is set it up and show her how to work it?

    Incidentally................ is she hot?
