Talking Going to College to major in Information Security

I am going to be attending Utica College this January of 2009 to major in Cybersecurity and Information Assurance. The major offers two different concentrations:

    1) Cybercrime Investigations and Forensics.

    2) Information Assurance.

I am still debating on which concentration I want to choose. It will most likely be the Information Assurance concentration.

If I do the Information Assurance one, after I graduate, I will then get a certificate degree in Computer Forensics at Champlain College.

I do have a question though. If I was to concentrate in Computer Forensics at Utica College, what does the job outlook, look like for the Computer Foreniscs area??

    Adam.

    Hi Adam,

Aaaarrrggghhh! that is one pig of a question you have my friend.

CAVEAT: I am in the UK/EU so your mileage may differ

    1. Digital forensics is more fun and more interesting, but over here at least offers few job opportunities. The useless tards pass laws but have no intention of enforcing them?

    2. Information Assurance is THE LAW so it is pretty boring, but has great job potential. I don't know how it is with you, but if i had a job doing regulatory compliance with a major law or accountancy firm, I would be on big bucks......... and they have the budgets for postgrad training at their cost.

I guess that I am no help to you as I would go for #2 every time............ but at your age would go for #1
