Travel digital equipment Regulations
I remember roughly 5 years back talking with another colleague and him mentioning that when you leave the US and go to specific other countries you weren't allowed to bring specific things (encryption based, software, etc)
My company does a lot of global work and is expanding into a couple other markets (China, India, Russia, etc) I am curious where I can find rules and regulations on deploying equipment there as well as any best practices for supporting and deploying remote sites in other countries.
The best way to join them to our network, who could support them from an IT standpoint locally etc.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks

Getting the hardware there is the biggest issue. I work for a global company and we can't even send the simplest cisco router to Iran..

I have yet to figure that out. Luckily my remotes are in the E.U. and China. I'm pretty sure I have broken the law when it comes to exporting technology to China, but my feeling is - if there is a label on the hardware that says Made in China, then it's OK to ship the thing BACK!

Even a foreign-origin item exported from the United States, transmitted or transhipped through the United States, or being returned from the United States to its foreign country of origin is considered an export.
So even if it is Chinese in origin it is an export.

IIRC for the export controlled countries we use Chinese equipment (manufactured and sold there). I'll see if I can find out a bit more, I don't personally handle that stuff. It's all done by special teams that have special clearance.
