Moreover, other Pakistani websites like ansari.music and songs420 have embedded pop ups which are used to put up worms in the users' computer."

Vaghela pointed out that regular anti-virus softwares don't work against such programmes as these are comparatively new.
Even though there relativly knew, it usually doesn't take the anti-virri makers to generate and make available new signatures that will detect and illiminate the scum..

I wonder if those Turkish Hackers and the Iranian groups will join in, and whose side will they take..

In the example website mentioned in the article :

    Code:
    http://songs.pk
    they say that:

    Code:
    http://songs.pk/note.png
Im not saying that what 'MID DAY' is posting is 100% wrong. But due to missinformation arising from their website... they are an unreliable source. Might just be lies for political benefits. Not saying they are.. but that unreliability results in such.

Truth is.. they would be harming their own users if a site such as songs.pk were indeed infected.

I have clicked on almost every link on that .pk site and there was nothing that that i found to be a threat.
(eg. No automated packets comming my way as in invisible downloads or anything of the sort.)

Although i would welcome any 2nd opinions on the safety of that sites content.

Not that im interested in that sort of music nor bollywood (i think that bollywood really sux and i listen ONLY to heavy metal) but for the fun of it i went there and clickety clicked looking for what 'MID DAY' has posted about them.

    Cheers.

Heh yeah that disclaimer kinda describes it pretty good. Me thinks it might be more of an attempted paranoia war/attack than anything?

Not saying there isnt a hacking war going on but that site heard the rumors quickly and responded so i think the war is more to scare and discourage than hack.. And web of trust doesnt have any major complaints about the site other than annoying popups. Not that web of trust can be 100% trusted but it seems for the most part trustworthy

Nothing comes for free.. Not even on the internet..

As far as the war and all that goes.. it sucks ..

I mean the minute Israel started their campaign against Gaza.. I could see cyber war start..
I also cannot forget after 26/11 attacks on Mumbai.. there were site's asking for donation for the injured but were actually infected and bla bla bla..

I don’t ever trust *users* to understand where to click and where not to click (hey we have click and hack software’s.. so if admins are dumb enough, you can’t expect a user to be smart [enough])..

In general block of stuff you KNOW is malicious (even if it doesn’t show signs of being malicious at the point of time) .. Here is an example :

    http://isc.sans.org/diary.html?storyid=5638

Over the weekend another site popped up, www.help-israel-win.com which is down at the moment. According to what was posted on the site, it was built by "a group of students who are tired of sitting around doing nothing".

The embedded IRC client uses a well known (and legitimate) IRC client library SmartIrc4net. The binary has some commands embedded as well, which can help distinguish what it can do:

    .connect
    .close
    .stop
    .hide
    .show
    .update
    .version
    .refresh
    .platform
    .memory
    .cpu
    .login

Finally, it can retrieve a remote file and save it on the local machine as TmpUpdateFile.exe – certainly sounds fishy.
While at the moment it does not appear to do anything bad (it just connects to the IRC server and sites there – there also appeared to be around 1000 machines running this when I tested this) the owner can probably do whatever he wants with machines running this.

The uninstall process seems to be correct, as the author(s) say on the web page, but it is questionable if the binary will download something else.

In any case, and as always – be careful what you download and run on your machine, especially if it's coming from unknown sources that you can't trust.

Lastly, although I feel sad (in a way) saying this: Don't trust Indian Media.. Living in Mumbai and being cought up in the recent attacks I know what i'm saying..

    Well,

The information seems to have originated from Indian Government sources and has quite wide coverage:

    http://blog.laksha.net/2009/01/virus...f-hackers.html

    Even in Pakistani newspapers:
