SQL 2008 install changed firewall settings???
Installed SQL2008 X64 on Win2k3 SP2 x64. Got a warning during install to check Windows firewall settings. I took a look at the settings, checked netstat. Everything appeared OK to me.
A few minutes later, i got a call from one of my admins. She could not establish a terminal services connection(TSC) to this server. She could no longer ping the server either. (She is VPNd in and was able to login just prior to the install). I am able to TSC from within the data center without a problem. wtf?
If I disable the Windows Firewall, she can connect. Is there some option somewhere to configure the windows firewall to distinguish between local addresses?
Frickin Bill Gates.

Update/Case closed...
You can change the "Scope" of a particular Exception in the Windows Firewall.
Apparently the SQL 2008 install (or one of the Hotfixes that the install installed) changed the scope to "My Network only" on several port exceptions including RDP.
Here's the technet link I found that tipped me off.
