    The Internet is broked!

Well, at least on the other side of the world in a lot of Asian nations. Reading here it did make me wonder if this was a security breach (deliberate attack? if not, is there potential for it?) and second, how many attacks have been put on hold because of a lot of people aren't online (?)

I guess one good thing to come out of this, is that we will see less SpamBots trying to burst through the doors.

I don't think so. This happens more frequently than most people imagine, but mostly to subnets that can be routed round. It is only when a major link is broken that it gets Worldwide attention.

Yes, it could be done deliberately, but what would that do other than p1$$ off people with money?

Like my posts early this year, I still suspect marine creatures, particularly sharks. Modern cables are very flimsy and are just laid on the ocean floor. They seem to emit radiation that attracts these creatures.

We employ Pakistani programmers, and I was barely able to reach them yesterday. Maybe this is an attack against outsourcing

Just wait until Al Gore hears about this! You're in big trouble mister.

I know that's some expensive fiber but don't you think maybe they could move the cables around a bit for redundancy?

One would think they'd have other redundancies in place.

I was theorizing from a terrorist point of view to shut down "dissenters" from various nations that end up being isolated even more.

I guess it is very commercial?

The "dissenters" are the terrorists, I would have thought, so for a major government to get involved would make them terrorists..........
